The Great Buzz Off, an event sponsored by the Sustainable Furnishings Council (SFM) during the High Point Market, featured designers Tom Filicia and Raymond Waites.

The goal of the event was to illustrate the difference between sustainable and ordinary products with a live demonstration. Both types of furniture were placed side-by-side and cut apart with saws, scissors and knives with every piece compared and explained, including the various wood components.

"I applaud SFM as well as Thom and Raymond for embracing sustainable design and performing their surgery live so that all can see the procedures,” said Linda Carey, a veteran of the home furnishings industry, marketing consultant and SFM member. “No prescription without diagnosis. Know what you are buying! This demo shows buyers that sustainability is a key prescription for charging up their retail stores.”
