ZEELAND, MI - Herman Miller Inc. has been selected to receive the 2012 Huntington Pillar Award, recognizing the office and contract furniture maker for its dedication to empowering women in the workplace.
Herman Miller, which had sales of $1.6 billion last year, is one of three recipients of the annual award issued by the Women's Resource Center (WRC) to West Michigan employers. Representatives of Acquinas College and Axios Inc. will join Herman Miller at the awards luncheon scheduled for March 14 at JW Marriott Hotel in Grand Rapids, MI.
“These employers understand the value women bring to their business, as employees, as leaders, and as customers” said Sharon Caldwell-Newton, executive director of WRC.
Kerry Davis, founding member and former lead for Herman Miller’s Women’s Initiative Network (WIN) noted, “Our company culture promotes the idea that you can achieve your full potential, and that all of your unique talents and gifts can be utilized to make a difference in the communities in which we live and work."
