I made an end-grain cutting board out of cherry, maple, and black walnut. I started by cutting strips of each and gluing them together before ripping them perpendicular and alternating each one and gluing it all together. I then sanded it and applied 3 layers of food-safe mineral oil and I thought it turned out pretty good but the first cut I made on it caused it to crack and warp. I think in addition to it being pretty thin, there was built-up pressure in the cutting board because the cuts I made on the table saw weren't exactly parallel but I wouldn't have expected it to cause this much of a problem. How can I better keep the wood along the fence next time? Am I right in thinking that the bad cuts and thin pieces are the main causes? Is there any fix?
