Newman offers the EQ3 Planer, which pre-surfaces boards, providing an improved divided cut over existing self-centering, opposed cut planers, the company says. While removing an equal amount of material from the top and bottom surfaces can be advantageous, most planed boards yield more lumber of higher quality when the surfaces are equalized prior to finish planning. Benefits include increased yield, higher quality finish and reduced split cupped lumber.
