Mastercam 2017 Router features a new ribbon interface which tabs group similar functions and displays them in order from simple to more complex, with editing functions on the same tab as creation functions for ease of use. Also made easier, the company says, are the tools for 2D and 3D machining, including contouring, drilling, pocketing, and the ability to rough cut multiple surfaces, solid models, STL files, or any combination. A Multiaxis feature also provides control over toolpath type, tool motion, and tool axis, the company adds. In addition to general-purpose multiaxis machining, Mastercam also has specialized add-ons for multi-bladed parts (Mastercam Blade Expert) and cylinder head ports (Mastercam Port Expert).
