One coat or two?

Hello fellow workers. Long story short, building a toybox for my kids bday. Maple sheet with ash corners. I did one coat of classic oak gloss stain/poly. It looks great. I feel like I'm going to ruin it with two coats because it's hardwood and it's going to turn the color. Should I leave it and just give it one more coat of poly? Or one more stain/poly then another poly. Thanks for your help, just don't want to screw it up, her birthday is this weekend.

Slim Shaker package for miter machine

The Slim Shaker package is an add-on for the 2024 MMTJ miter machine from Larick, a Pillar Machine Co. Previously, the MMTJ could only process parts as narrow as 1.5 inches. With this new package, the MMTJ now handles parts as slim as 1/2 inch. With the package, users can produce mitered parts on both paper-wrapped and solid wood slim shaker profiles. A concealed mortise and tenon into the miter joint provides strength and precise alignment during assembly, the company says.
