2025 marks the 30th anniversary of the release of bubble-free veneer (BFV) to the woodworking marketplace. Thirty years ago, Peter Rodgers, president and CEO of Oakwood Veneer Company, along with experienced employees, invented a trademarked product that eliminates the problem of wood veneer movement when installed with contact cement.

Hammond Lumber, the second largest family-owned lumber company in Maine, is set to acquire Ware-Butler Building Supply. The acquisition will expand Hammond’s retail footprint from 22 to 34 locations throughout Maine and New Hampshire, further strengthening its ability to serve communities across the region. The acquisition will officially close on July 31, 2025.

Canfor Corporation announced July 22 that its 77%-owned subsidiary, Vida AB, has entered into an agreement to purchase AB Karl Hedin Sågverk from Mattsbo Såg AB and certain minority shareholders for a purchase price of $164 million (1.15 billion Swedish Krona), including working capital of approximately $39 million.
