#1 Trump announces 50% tariffs on cabinets, vanities (Posted September 26, 2025)
President Trump on Thursday, Sept. 25, said the U.S. would impose 50% tariffs on cabinetry, vanities, and associated imported products, posting that exporting nations are "flooding" the U.S. with these products and calling it a matter of national security. The tariffs would go into effect on Oct. 1.

# 2 Man killed in industrial accident at millwork company (Posted September 24, 2025) 
A 28-year-old Boston resident was killed when he was moving a stack of plywood at his workplace, a millwork shop which caused a fatal head injury.

#3 Trump slaps 25% tariff on cabinets and furniture, 10% on lumber, with eye on increasing duties (Posted September 30, 2025)
The Trump administration set tariffs on imported wood, furniture and kitchen cabinets announced by President Trump last week, while delaying their implementation by two weeks to Oct. 14. Tariffs on cabinets, vanities and upholstered furniturecould rise on Jan. 1, 2026, unless individual countries reach out to cut a deal with Trump.

IWF Atlanta will expand to a second show in San Antonio, Texas, in 2027.

#4 IWF to launch second show in Texas (Posted September 23, 2025)
Long the operator of the largest woodworking trade show in the Western Hemisphere, the International Woodworking Fair Atlanta has announced it will produce a new show in Texas in 2027. IWF West is slated to debut August 25-27, 2027 in San Antionio in what IWF said is an effort to serve the “rapidly expanding West/Southwest marketplace.”

Kabinart - United Cabinet Company, LLC. filed a 11 chapter bankruptcy in the Middle District of Tennessee bankruptcy court on October 06, 2025. 

#5 Cabinet manufacturer, Kabinart, files for bankruptcy (Posted October 6, 2025)
United Cabinet Company, dba Kabinart, is a 62-year-old Nashville, Tennessee, cabinet company, which operates a 170,000-square-foot facility, and employs 150 highly skilled men and women. After six decades, the company has filed bankruptcy.

#6 Canadian cabinet association opens up on tariffs (Posted October 1, 2025)

#7 Decorative hardwoods industry urges Trump to expand products under section 232 tariffs proposal (Posted October 4, 2025)
On Oct. 1, 2025, nine presidents and CEOs representing American manufacturers of hardwood plywood, engineered wood flooring, and hardwood veneer asked President Trump to add their products to the recently announced Section 232 tariffs on wood products.

#9 HNI, Steelcase file antitrust paperwork (Posted September 15, 2025)
As HNI and Steelcase continue to take steps toward a blockbuster $2.2 billion  merger, several legal entities are undergoing research and actively recruiting company investors in an effort to uncover "possible breaches of fiduciary duty" that might have led to an undervaluing of Steelcase.
