Sauder Woodworking reportedly laying off 150 at Ohio factory

ARCHBOLD, Ohio — According to news reports, 150 employees were laid off at Sauder Woodworking in Archbold, Ohio, one of the area's largest employers.

In an interview with TV station, WTOL 11, Executive Vice President Dan Sauder said, “We had to make some adjustments to our employment levels to react to the sales drop. So we have reduced a couple of shifts, and we’ve had to reduce our staffing.”

Fulton County Administrator Dennis Kennedy told WTOL that the layoffs move the total number of employees at the company to below 1,000. Woodworking Network reached out to Kennedy, as well as Jeff Rupp, president of the Board of Commissioners, and a Sauder executive vice president, and will update this story as more information becomes available.

OhioMeansJobs of Fulton County partnered with Sauder Woodworking to assist with the transition of the layoffs, and plans to hold future events next week to help the impacted workers. During these events, the organization said it will help affected employees explore job opportunities, apply for unemployment benefits and access training and local resources.
