GEAUGA COUNTY, Ohio — Bradford Hosler, one of four Ohio men charged in connection with a home invasion and attempted child abduction of an Amish family at their home and cabinetry business, has pleaded guilty to aggravated robbery and kidnapping charges.
The 33-year-old Hosler will be sentenced at a future date.
A second man, 43-year-old Ricky Martin of Canton faces complicity charges. Two other men, 44-year-old William Hatfield of Massillon and 37-year-old Randall Cromer of Doylestown face the same serious charges as Hosler.
The four men were accused of an October 9 home invasion and attempted kidnapping at an Amish family’s home and cabinet business in Middlefield Township, Ohio.
The men arrested and indicted for allegedly committing the attack include:
Initially, Martin was indicted on one count each of complicity to commit aggravated burglary and aggravated robbery, three counts of complicity to commit kidnapping, and one count of having weapons while under disability. Hatfield, Cromer, and Hosler were each indicted on one count of aggravated burglary, one count of aggravated robbery, three counts of kidnapping, one count of theft, and two counts of assault.
In an October 2025 press conference, Lieutenant Jim Jonovich of the Geauga Sheriff's Office said that the three suspects first arrived at the residence and used a ruse to gain access to the victim's property.
"The suspects posed falsely as potential customers of the business and tried to gain the victim's trust," he said. "The suspects ultimately used physical force by placing the juvenile victim, an eight-year-old, into a chokehold-type restraint, to force the adult victim and his son into the house. The adult victim stated that he was placed under watch by one of the three men while his house was ransacked by the other two suspects. He reported that they separated him from his son, and they held his son hostage as they moved through the house searching for money."
In a redacted 911 call played at the press conference, the father told the operator that the suspects used a stun gun on him and demanded money from his 8-year-old son. The three men attempted to kidnap the 8-year-old, but the child was able to escape after the men tried to take him to their car. After ransacking the home, the suspects allegedly stole an estimated $5,000.
