LP Building Solutions reinforces commitment to U.S. veterans through donation

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — LP Building Solutions (LP), a manufacturer of building products, is reinforcing its commitment to U.S. veterans through its donation of LP SmartSide Trim & Siding for the newly constructed, specially adapted, mortgage-free home built for retired U.S. Army Sergeant Joshua Hargis. A decorated Army Ranger and K9 handler, Sergeant Hargis served four tours in Afghanistan and sustained severe injuries during his final deployment.

LP’s contribution highlights the company’s longstanding dedication to supporting veterans, aligning with the observance of both Veterans Day in the U.S. and Remembrance Day in Canada. This specially adapted home will provide Sergeant Hargis and his family with a comfortable, accessible living space tailored to meet his unique needs as he begins a new chapter in his life. The home was built through the Gary Sinise Foundation’s R.I.S.E. (Restoring Independence Supporting Empowerment) program.

“We are honored to contribute to Sergeant Hargis’ new home and support him and his family as they move forward on their next journey,” said Jason Ringblom, LP's executive vice president and general manager of siding . “Supporting those who have sacrificed for our country is central to our partnership with the Gary Sinise Foundation and to LP’s broader commitment to veterans. This project holds a special place in the hearts of everyone at LP.”

LP will commemorate the home dedication with a ceremony on November 12 for Sergeant Hargis, who was previously honored by LP and the Gary Sinise Foundation at the 2023 Tennessee Titans’ Salute to Service game.

Alongside the donation of LP SmartSide products, the LP Foundation, an independent nonprofit fully funded by LP, provided financial support for the home’s construction. In 2022, the LP Foundation named the Gary Sinise Foundation its national nonprofit partner, pledging annual financial support. This year, LP has further solidified the partnership by donating 100% of the LP SmartSide Trim & Siding needed for the specially adapted, mortgage-free homes built for these heroes.

“On behalf of our founder Gary Sinise and all of us at the Gary Sinise Foundation, we are incredibly grateful for our partnership with LP and the LP Foundation and for their commitment to joining us in honoring our nation’s veterans, including incredible heroes like Sergeant Hargis, who put their lives on the line every day defending our freedoms and our country,” said Gary Sinise Foundation Executive Vice President Jim Ravella.

LP’s commitment to veterans extends beyond charitable contributions. Through initiatives such as its sponsorship of the Manufacturing Institute’s Heroes MAKE America program, RecruitMilitary and Mission StartPoint (founded by LP team member Joe Buhajla), LP actively fosters support for veterans and active-duty military personnel within its workforce. This dedication was recognized earlier this year when LP and LP Watkins Plant Manager Bob Simpson received the prestigious Above and Beyond Award from the Department of Defense’s Office of Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve. The award, for which LP and Simpson were nominated by LP team member and Minnesota National Guard member Ross Ruder, highlights LP’s dedication to creating a veteran-friendly workplace.
