SOMERSET, MA -- Horner Millwork, a distributor and manufacturer of windows, doors, kitchens, stairs, millwork, and commercial building products, plans to invest $7 million to expand its Somerset, MA, manufacturing plant by 20,000-square-feet and to create 15 new jobs.

The investment, backed by a 12-year, $647,568 tax break, will include the addition of two floors of manufacturing and warehouse space, as well as the purchase of new woodworking machinery, including a CNC router, a CNC door manufacturing machine, and additional shop equipment. The company also plans to install a 1-megawatt solar energy facility to reduce its carbon footprint.

Horner's planned expansion is one of 17 economic development projects approved by Massachusetts' Economic Assistance Coordinating Council (EACC). According to the agency, these projects are expected to create 1,008 new jobs and spur approximately $487.1 million in private investment in the state.
