HNI installs solar panels at two plants

MUSCATINE, Iowa — HNI Corp. announced it installed solar energy systems at two unnamed “strategic manufacturing locations.”

HNI, ranked No. 10 on the FDMC 300, said it expects the new solar projects to generate solar power estimated at 2,500 MWh and offset more than 2,000 tons CO2e annually. In addition to these solar initiatives, HNI’s renewable energy focus includes renewable energy credits and power purchase agreements.

The office furniture manufacturer added that these solar projects underscore its “proactive approach toward environmental responsibility, sustainability, and combating climate change.”

USA Today recently recognized HNI as one of 'America's Climate Leaders’ for its dedication to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, its focus on energy conservation efforts, and its commitment to renewable energy.

"We are pleased to be recognized for the on-going efforts in our sustainability journey," said Jeff Lorenger, chairman, president, and CEO. "This initiative reflects our commitment to smartly addressing sustainability across our operations."
