BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. — After more than 30 years in Plymouth, Pella Northland is settling into its new headquarters in Brooklyn Park, where the door and window manufacturer is bringing its office and warehouse operations under one roof.

Pella, ranked #11 on the FDMC 300 list, recently completed a build-out to occupy 85,000 square feet of leased space at the North Business Center, 9100 Wyoming Ave. N. in Brooklyn Park. The new headquarters offers 65,000 square feet of warehouse and 20,000 square feet of office space, according to Forte Real Estate Partners, which represented Pella.

Forte said Monday that the consolidation will support efficiency and growth for the company, which serves Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota, and South Dakota.

Pella Northland previously operated out of two separate 30,000-square-foot warehouses in Plymouth and New Hope. Pella had called Plymouth home since 1991, and the New Hope location was added in the early 2000s. The move combined those spaces and allowed Pella to create a state-of-the-art training facility for field sales staff, said Peter Martin, president of Pella Northland.

"Finding the right space wasn’t easy. All options were on the table, including leasing, purchasing an existing building, and buying land for new construction," said Dan Lofgren, a senior vice president with Forte. “Eventually we realized that probably the best solution was to consolidate and find a good lease option for them. We went through the whole process."

The interest rate market moved the needle in favor of leasing. Once the company made that decision, Lofgren said, the next challenge was finding the right location without straying too far from its Plymouth roots.

Pella Northland has about 150 employees in the region, including 130 at the new Brooklyn Park location. Employees include warehouse workers, skilled laborers, and a sales team.
