BIRMINGHAM, AL -- The man who set fire to cabinetry firm Hartselle Plywood and Lumber Co., 39-year-old David Groover, was sentenced to 63 months in prison plus three years of supervision upon his release for the January 2010 arson.

Groover pleaded guilty to one count of arson in December. He was also ordered to pay $654,219 restitution to Hartselle Plywood and its insurance carrier by U.S. District Judge L. Scott Coogler.
 
Groover allegedly broke into Hartselle Plywood in the early morning hours of January 16 and stole computer equipment and a cell phone. He then poured lacquer and thinner onto the floor and set the building on fire, causing $500,000 in damage to the woodworking operation that manufactures cabinets for mobile homes.
