The Hardwood Forestry Fund has awarded funding of more than $57,000 to eight different U.S. projects. These projects include five in Iowa and three in Minnesota, and were granted in conjunction with state foresters and their Departments of Natural Resources.

Iowa locations are Backbone State Park, Volga State Recreation Area, Cow Branch Wildlife Management Area, White Pine Hollow, and Yellow River State Forest.

There are two Minnesota locations in the Richard J. Dorer Memorial Hardwood State Forest, and the Two Harbors site within the North Shore Highlands.

Replanted species in the locations includes white oak, walnut, swamp oak, cherry, hickory, hazelnut, sassafras and white spruce.

HFF promotes hardwood timber growth, managements, education and environmentally sounds uses of renewable forest resources by providing grant funding to partnering organizations.
