MANHEIM, PA -- A wood treating and prefinishing firm, Guyon Industries, saw three of its four buildings destroyed in an early-morning fire April 20.
Damage to the three buildings, totaling approximately 10,000 square feet, was estimated at $400,000.
Neighbors told local media that they heard and felt an explosion at approximately 4:30 a.m. Approximately 125 firefighters responded to the scene to battle the blaze and contained it from spreading to the fourth building and neighboring homes.
Guyon, a family-owned business, started operations about 10 years ago and reporteldy employs five people. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation. Firefighters expressed concern about finishing materials from the business flowing into local waterways.
