GERMANTIMBER Shows Wood Product Advantages at 2009 IBS

LAS VEGAS — The German Timber Promotion Fund (GERMANTIMBER), a non-profit marketing organization of the German forest and wood-based industry, presented information about how modern wood products from sustainable forestry can contribute to realizing green building goals during the 2009 International Builders Show (IBS).

According to a release, the organization presented material informing builders about wood’s technical properties, including its dimensional stability and load bearing capabilities. GERMANTIMBER also demonstrated the energy efficiency of building with wood and its carbon-storing properties, which make it an important part of sustainable building.

GERMANTIMBER also presented softwood products for construction such as solid structural timber (technically dried, finger jointed and quality controlled; KVH), duo/trio beams (two or three layers of laminated timber for high dimensional stability and visual application) and Glulam (multiple layers of laminated timber for wide-span, load-bearing structures and visual application). Also shown were hardwood products such as European beech and oak for use in creative interior design.
