Countertop national standard available for review

POTOMAC FALLS, Va. - The Architectural Woodwork Institute announced that the draft of Proposed American National Standard AWI 1236 – Countertops is available for public review through Feb. 15.
According to AWI, Proposed American National Standard AWI 1236 – Countertops will provide standards and tolerances for the quality and fit of countertops and establish minimum aesthetic and performance requirements intended to provide a well-defined degree of control over a project’s quality of materials and workmanship.
The standard draft was developed through AWI’s ANSI-approved standards writing process. Approval through the ANSI process is the final step in the standards writing process and will establish consensus across the industry.

AWI said participants who submitted a Pre-Canvass Interest Survey to be part of the canvass group will receive the official letter ballot by email. All other interested parties may participate through the public comment form at
