RESTON, Va. - Cabinet sales rose 3.8% in July compared to the previous year's figures, marking a fourth straight month of year-over-year growth for the industry. According to participating members in the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association's monthly Trend of Business Survey, stock sales were up 9.2% and custom sales rose 8.4%, although semi-custom dropped 3.1% compared to the same period the prior year.

Year-to-date cabinetry sales through July are up 1.5%. Stock sales are up 3.2%  and custom sales have increased 3.9% year-to-date, however semi-custom sales are down 1.1%.

Compared to June figures, sales are down 14.7% overall; stock sales dropped 13.7%, while custom decreased 13.1% and semi-custom dropped 16.2%.

The KCMA Trend of Business Survey participants include stock, semi-custom, and custom companies whose combined sales represent approximately 70% of the U.S. kitchen cabinet and bath vanity market. KCMA says 63% of its cabinet manufacturer members report sales below $10 million annually, reflecting the importance of small manufacturers in the industry.

KCMA is the major trade association for kitchen cabinet and bath vanity manufacturers and key suppliers of goods and services to the industry. The association has been compiling and reporting industry sales data for more than 40 years.
