PAOLI, Ind. - Best Home Furnishings has announced plans to expand its Paoli, Indiana operation, creating 100 to 125 jobs.

The residential furniture manufacturer will host a career fair on Nov. 18 to fill a variety of posts, including upholstery, frame and mechanism assembly, upholstery prep and sewing positions. The job fair will take place at Best Home Furnishings' Paoli location.

In addition to the Paoli facility, Best has manufacturing operations in Jasper, Cannelton and Ferdinand, Indiana, totaling more than 1.1 million square feet. The company received grants from the Town of Paoli secured in collaboration with Orange County Economic Development Partnership (OCEDP) and Indiana Economic Development Corp (IEDC), to assist with the expansion at Paoli.

“The southern Indiana region continues to supply us with a large pool of skilled individuals who possess a strong work ethic,” said Brian Lange, president of Best Home Furnishings. “Since our acquisition of the Paoli plant twenty years ago this community and its workforce have been integral in achieving our output and quality goals. We don’t see the high demand for Best Home Furnishings products letting up any time soon. We are committed to building our Best team for the long-term.”

Best's offerings include more than 2,400 styles of upholstered furniture, including sofas, chairs and recliners, which are sold worldwide. According to a statement, Best saw an 85 percent increase in September orders over the same time last year, and from Aug. 30-Sept. 5 it set a record for orders received.  The increase in demand has necessitated the rapid expansion and hiring, the company said.

“We are thrilled to see the growth of Best Home Furnishings in the Paoli community,” stated Kristal Painter, executive director of the Orange County Economic Development Partnership. “Best has been a model community partner for decades and we look forward to supporting them during this expansion phase.”

Established as Best Chairs in 1962 and headquartered in Ferdinand, the family-owned Best Home Furnishings is ranked #40 on the current FDMC 300 list of top North American wood products producers. Co-founder Clem Lange was inducted into the American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame in 2019.
