MANSFIELD, OH-- In celebration of Carousel Works 25th anniversary, they are opening the doors to the carousel factory for the public to share the magic in support of a great cause. Tours are available on May 6 & 7, 2011, from 10am - 4pm each day, with 100% of the proceeds benefiting children's art education scholarships at the Mansfield Art Center.
Carousel Works' 22,000 square foot facility in Mansfield, Ohio is home to 28 talented and experienced employees specializing in all aspects of carousel manufacturing ranging from design, carving, woodworking, pattern making, casting, engineering, machine shop techniques, artistic painting, sculpture and management under one roof.
Take a tour and see first-hand the following new carousels being created: LA Zoo Carousel (Los Angeles, CA), Bay Creek Resort Carousel (Chesapeake Bay, VA), Dayton Carousel of Innovation (Dayton, OH), and the Detroit Zoo Carousel (Detroit, MI). Also see figures from the historic Central Park Carousel (New York City, NY) undergoing a complete restoration.
In 1991, Carousel Works built the first new hand carved wooden carousel in the United States to be created since the Great Depression. Since that time, Carousel Works, owned by Art Ritchie and Dan Jones, has created more than 45 new carousels and restored over 20 antique carousels. Several of these carousels are located right here in Ohio, including the Columbus Commons Carousel (Columbus, OH), Akron Zoo Carousel (Akron, OH), Toledo Zoo Carousel (Toledo, OH), Columbus Zoo Carousel Restoration (Columbus, OH), Chapel Hill Mall Carousel (Akron, OH) and the Richland Carousel Park (Mansfield, OH.)
Food, beverages and cotton candy will be available through the Chaos Café.
Tickets are available by visiting www.carouselworks.com or www.mansfieldartcenter.org
