WASHINGTON, DC -- The Window & Door Manufacturers Association (WDMA) has released two new webinars for its architectural wood flush door standards, WDMA I.S. 1A-11, Industry Standard for Architectural Wood Flush Doors, and WDMA I.S. 6A-11, Industry Standard for Architectural Stile and Rail Doors. The webinars were developed by WDMA's National Architectural Door Council. 

Each of these on-demand webinars are free to the public and are approved by the American Institute of Architects (AIA) for one continuing education (CE) credit each for architects who successfully complete the webinar. Total estimated time for each is 20 minutes including the online quiz at their conclusion. Upon completion of the quiz users will be able to download a complimentary copy of each standard. 

"The revisions to the standards are a direct result of several years of hard work by our architectural door manufacturer members and they should be applauded," said Steve Sisson, chair of the WDMA National Architectural Door Council and VP/general manager of Karona, Inc. in Grand Rapids, MI.  "The webinar series is the first step in educating the architect and specifier community about the updated standards and the webinars were specifically developed to encourage use of the standards in the marketplace." 

Both architectural wood flush standards are part of a superior interior built environment, and now there is an improved standard to guide their specification. The focus is on performance-driven specifications. After completing these courses, users will be able to: describe the difference between the various standards in the marketplace, and why architects should use the newest performance based design standards; identify interior architectural wood door performance levels, based on where they are to perform within the facility; and define the distinct performance levels or grades for these doors that are crucial in overall specification.
