ROSEVILLE, CA - SierraPine has entered into an agreement with Flakeboard America Limited, a US subsidiary of Arauco, for the sale of its western operations, including particleboard mills in Springfield, OR and Martell, CA and an MDF mill in Medford, OR.

“SierraPine will work closely with Flakeboard to ensure a smooth transition of these facilities to the new ownership group. In the meantime we will continue to conduct business in the same manner as our customers have come to expect. We feel the synergies created by this transaction will benefit our team members and our customers going forward” said Jeff Johnson, President of SierraPine.

“At the same time, SierraPine will permanently close our particleboard facility in Adel, GA. This particleboard mill and its team members have served its customers well since it was built in 1965. Since the economic downturn of 2008, the economics of operating this mill have changed dramatically and we don’t see that changing in the foreseeable future.”

SierraPine and Flakeboard are targeting a closing during the first quarter of 2014. The closing is subject to customary conditions, including regulatory approvals.
