PHILADELPHIA - United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey released its Campaign Award Winners for the 2013-14 Campaign season, honoring Pennsylvania and Indiana Lumbermens Mutual Insurance Companies (PLM/ILM) as one of two recipients of the “Culture of Caring Award”. United Way knows that the ability to change lives is only possible with the dedication of supporters and chooses to annually recognize companies who make exceptional efforts to change lives in their local communities.

PLM/ILM recently affiliated in the Fall of 2013, delaying the PLM tradition of participating in the United Way campaign season and ultimately compacting the time the companies could spend raising money for this cause. Despite these setbacks and the cultural changes happening internally, the employees of PLM/ILM remained dedicated to the campaign.

Upon notifying the company of the award, United Way noted, “Our Culture of Caring Award recognizes organizations with outstanding employee participation. This has always been a strong point for Pennsylvania Lumbermens, and was highlighted this year with your new affiliation with Indiana Lumbermens.” Ultimately, over 90% of employees contributed to the Southeastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey or Indiana United Way campaigns in 2013-14.

PLM/ILM remains dedicated to the organization, providing a company match to every dollar pledged by its employees. The company plans to continue its campaign drive for 2014-15 and hopes to get more involved in both the Philadelphia and Indianapolis communities.
