BIRMINGHAM, AL. -- The Pella® Windows & Doors distributorship here is under new management, led by a group that’s poised to re-invigorate the company, delivering superior customer service, on-time fulfillment, and strong relationships with trade pros. Stan Stokes, president of K.C. Company, a member of Pella® Windows and Doors Direct Sales Network in Beltsville, Md., will head up this effort.
K.C. Company is an 80-year-old family business dedicated to bringing the best value, service, and products to homeowners, builders, contractors, remodelers and architects in the Mid-Atlantic area. It boasts more than 40 winners of the coveted Pella President’s Club Award and was the 2010 recipient of Pella’s President’s Award for the Retail Replacement Business.
Plans for reviving the Pella distributorship in key Gulf Coast states include a new showroom and distribution center in Birmingham, plus two other hubs, one in Louisiana and one along the Gulf Coast. Pella’s territory will expand beyond Alabama to once again cover Louisiana, Mississippi and the Florida Panhandle.
Stan will be joined in this turnaround effort by two seasoned pros who know the territory well: General Managers Greg Haynes and Kelly Shea. A model for the new venture will be K.C.’s Mid-Atlantic operation, which has eight locations in five states with sales that have peaked in excess of $68 million.
“The good news is that we’ve got some experienced sales people with the ability to do the job,” says Stan, who is originally from Phenix City, Ala. “We can’t lose track of the fact that we’re doing this with a customer-centric mentality. We want to make sure that the customer is served and we can compete. Our proven business model will bring success to our Pella distributorship throughout Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, and the Florida Panhandle.
One customer base that is top of mind with the new endeavor is contractors. Any trade pro knows that great service from a distributor can improve a contractor’s business and enhance relationships with customers. For contractors who want to deliver the best to their customers, Pella offers a unique program that offers training, 24/7 turnkey tools, and incentives. The Pella Certified Contractor (PCC) program gives pros the support they need to make sure homeowners are completely satisfied.
“We want the pros to know that we’ve been doing this kind of work for 80 years,” says Stan. “Fulfillment is one of our strong suits.”
For consumers, Pella offers an extensive line of windows, doors, and accessories—from classic to contemporary—that fit all lifestyles. Pella’s energy-saving technology, delivering up to 74% more efficiency, can make a major difference in comfort and energy use. And when it comes to replacement options, Pella can’t be beat. In fact, 91% of past window and door replacement customers say that would likely recommend Pella to a friend.
“We’ve been in the replacement business, direct to the consumer, for more than 20 years,” says Stan. “That’s what leads to our strong referral base.”
