Kodiak Building Partners Forms, Plans Expansion

Denver, Colorado - Kodiak Building Partners today announced the formation of the company and its plans to invest in the building materials distribution industry.

Paul Hylbert, Kodiak Chairman and CEO, stated, “We believe the time is right to acquire assets in this space. While construction activity in general remains very weak, we believe that this business will recover and are looking to partner with strong management teams to participate in the upturn”.

Joining Hylbert at Kodiak is Steve Swinney who will act as President and COO, as well as Kyle Barker, Brian Cleveringa and Eric Miller who will be Managing Directors. “As we did with our recapitalization of Barton Supply in July of this year, we want to build Kodiak by partnering with the right management teams, establishing the appropriate capital structure, and then supporting the growth of companies over the long term”, said Swinney.

About the company:

Kodiak Building Partners was formed to invest in building products companies serving new residential, repair and remodeling, and commercial construction markets across the U.S. Recognizing that this industry is very local in nature, Kodiak and its investor partners will work with and support management on a market by market basis to build and grow businesses in the $10 million to $100 million sales range.

Headquartered in Denver, the company will provide capital and strategic support to allow its operating partners to make the decisions locally which reflect conditions in their individual markets. Barton Supply was established in 1963 by the Barton family to serve the needs of foundation contractors in the growing Colorado marketplace.

Over the past five decades, the Company has grown to three locations and added bending, cutting, and welding capability to fabricate reinforcing steel products as well as structural steel beams, posts and columns. The Company serves both the commercial and residential markets through its general contractor, foundation and framing sub-contractor, and homebuilder customers from locations in Aurora, Colorado Springs, and Fort Collins, Colorado.
