The Wood Manufacturing Cluster of Ontario, or the WMCO, is offering its WMCO Finishing Training program on July 5. 

Training will be held at:

Conestoga College - Doon Campus, Woodworking Center

Wednesday, July 5th, 2023, from 9:00 am- 4:00 pm
 Lunch, Materials, and Finishing Simulator Included!

Seating is limited to 15, so sign up early to avoid disappointment! Training is eligible for funding under the Canada Ontario Job Grant (COJG) with optional Phase 2.

The day-long training event includes practical training on a state-of-the-art spray simulator in Phase 1; Optional Phase 2 is at your plant.

Led by David Blackler, professor and finishing technologist at Conestoga College.

Phase 1: IN-CLASS TRAINING: 
Designed to start or accelerate the continuous improvement process in your finishing department and is best suited for new and experienced spray operators and finishing department management.

Theory - Brief Industry Overview 
Equipment:

• HVLP Spray Equipment – the pros and cons
• Airless – Air Assist – the pros and cons 

Typical Spray Material:

• Stains – spray, wipe, water-based, solvent-based…
• Sealer and Topcoats
• Pigmented lacquer 

Trouble Shooting (identifying the root causes) 

• Quality Assurance and Process Control 
• Training on the Virtual Spray System 
• Adjusting Spray Guns 
• Application Techniques 

NOTE: Participants are graded with an overall score from virtual system to help identify cost saving potential!
