Conestoga College to host WMCO spray finishing workshop

Attendees of the workshop will put their skills to the test using a virtual spray finishing simulator.

KITCHENER, Ontario — The Wood Manufacturing Cluster of Ontario (WMCO) is once again teaming up with Conestoga College to present Spray Finishing Training. The workshop is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Conestoga College’s Doon Campus Woodworking Centre.

The day-long event is best suited for new and experienced spray operators and finishing department management. Training will be led by David Blackler, professor and finishing technologist at Conestoga College.

Topics include:
•    Pros and cons of HVLP spray equipment and airless-air assist equipment
•    Review of various stains, sealers and topcoats, and pigmented lacquer
•    Troubleshooting finishing problems
•    Quality assurance and process control
•    Training on a virtual spray system
•    Adjusting spray guns
•    Application techniques

The registration fee is $495 + HST for WMCO members and $900 + HST for non-members. Seating is limited.
