BLACKFALDS, Alberta — The Architectural Woodwork Manufacturers Association of Canada is advertising for a new national executive director to replace Audra Denny. Denny, who was appointed executive director in fall of 2023, recently resigned from the association’s top position.
A job listing posted on Indeed by the AWMAC Board of Directors, notes, “The National Executive Director is accountable for the effective and efficient management and administration of the Architectural Woodwork Manufacturers Association of Canada. The Executive Director is responsible, within parameters established by the Board of Directors for determining the methods by which the Board’s directions and policies will be executed and the desired outcomes achieved.”
The advertised starting salary for the full-time position advertised is $90,000 to $110,000 annually.
Some of the duties and responsibilities of the executive director include:
- Overseeing day-to-day management of AWMAC operations
- Overseeing AWMAC’s strategic direction and planning, including creating goals and formulating strategies
- Managing AWMAC events (Annual Convention, Annual General Meeting), with the assistance of professional event planning staff and volunteers
- Acting as a spokesperson for AWMAC and representing the association at events and activities
- Acting as a bridge between the National Board of Directors and Chapters
- Budgeting, planning, managing risks, and analyzing financial reports
- Drafting policies as required for the Board's approval and prepare procedures to implement the policies; review existing policies annually and recommend changes to the Board
Requirements for the position include:
- Minimum of three years management experience
- Formal education in business, management or a related field
- Strong leadership, analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A knowledge and understanding of non-profit organization and how they operate
- Proficiency in Quickbooks Online and expert-level experience in the use of Microsoft365 and its applications
- Ability to work from home efficiently and effectively
