Acquisitions help fuel Richelieu’s 5% sales growth in Q1

MONTREAL — Richelieu reported sales of $463.6 million for its first quarter ended February 28, an increase of 5 percent compared to Q1 2025.

Richelieu attributed 3 percent of the sales increase to the acquisitions of three McKillican American distribution centers completed on December 12, 2025. The centers are located in in Portland, Oregon, and Seattle and Spokane, Washington. McKillican is wholesale distributor of specialty building materials for residential and commercial interiors.

Canadian sales of $249.8 million were up 3.4 %. U.S. sales of $155.6 million were up 11.3 %.

Net sales of 14.4 million for the first quarter represented a 4 percent increase compared to the same period for the prior year.

"Our growth trajectory remained strong in the first quarter,” said Richard Lord, president and CEO of Richelieu.  “Excluding the unfavorable impact of the appreciation of the Canadian dollar against the U.S. dollar, sales growth would have been 7 percent. Our results are all the more noteworthy given that the first three months represent the weakest period of the financial year. Our strategies focused on innovation, acquisitions and diversification of market segments, combined with the distinctive quality of our service, have effectively offset certain sector slowdowns."

Lord noted that the purchases of the McKillican American distribution centers brought the total number of acquisitions for 2025 to 12. “It also represents the 100th acquisition in Richelieu’s history. In addition, we have signed two agreements in principle for acquisitions in Canada. In 2026, we will continue to seize and create opportunities, as we are ideally positioned to meet demand in specialized markets, as well as the demand for new housing and renovation projects. The fragmented market in which we operate continues to present acquisition opportunities that we will pursue when they meet our criteria.

“I am also proud to highlight that Richelieu won the two most prestigious awards as part of the Best of KBIS 2026 – Kitchen & Bath Industry Show held recently in Orlando, Florida,” Lord added. “These honors recognize Richelieu’s leadership in product excellence, particularly in design, innovation and functionality."
