ONTARIO - Around 76 fires are burning throughout Ontario - 28 of which are out of control, according to Ontario's Ministry of Natural Resources.

Since the start of the year, the Ministry said 181,000 hectares have been consumed by fire. Lightning strikes have been the cause of many of the fires, says the Ministry.

Ontario is receiving help from Wisconsin, Minnesota, Mexico and other provinces to help battle fires in the northern parts of the province. Additional help is planned to arrive next week.

Last Saturday the 21st, some Northeast Ontario residents - those with only boat access - were forced to evacuate. Others were placed on evacuation alert.
