Windows & doors industry: Facts & figures

Ongoing labor shortages and economic pressures resulted in a mixed year for the industry, says the WDMA, with categories such as residential doors and windows softening, while others such as commercial architectural doors were stable or improved. Looking ahead, a majority of survey participants in the 2025 WDMA U.S. Market Industry Research say they expect moderate improvement in the near term, both in shipment volumes and sales performance.

Meanwhile, FGIA forecasts show U.S. demand for residential windows in new construction to decrease 1% in 2025, then increase 3% in 2026 before dropping 2% in 2027.  Remodeling and replacement window demand is forecast to shrink 1% in 2025, with slow growth of 1% to 2% in 2026 and 2027.
