July cabinet sales up 19.7% over last year

RESTON, Va. - Cabinet sales rose 19.7% in July 2022 compared to 2021 figures, continuing the trend of year-over-year sales growth for the industry. According to participating members in the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association's monthly Trend of Business Survey, custom sales were up 15.6%, semi-custom rose 28.3% and stock sales increased 14.8%. The estimated cabinet quantity decreased 0.8% compared to last year.

The numbers weren't as rosy in the month-to-month comparison, KCMA noted. Overall sales decreased 12.5% in July compared to June 2022. Custom sales were down 16.1%, semi-custom sales dropped 8.3%, and stock sales decreased 14.7%. Compared to June, the estimated cabinet quantity dipped by 16.4%

However, 2022 sales remain strong compared to last year. The Trend of Business Survey shows overall year-to-date cabinet sales were up 15.6% when compared to the same time period in 2021. Custom sales were up 17.2%, semi-custom sales increased 11.5% and stock sales increased 18.4%. The estimated cabinet quantity decreased by 1.3% according to the survey.

The KCMA Trend of Business Survey participants include stock, semi-custom, and custom companies whose combined sales represent approximately 75% of the U.S. kitchen cabinet and bath vanity market. KCMA is a major trade association for kitchen cabinet and bath vanity manufacturers and key suppliers of goods and services to the industry. The association has been compiling and reporting industry sales data for more than 40 years.
