Editor’s note: Woodworking Network Senior Editor Karen Koenig was among a group of U.S. journalists and videographers invited by the Polish Investment & Trade Agency for a firsthand look at the country’s furniture manufacturing industry. Here’s one of the companies on the tour.
Miuform is well known for its upholstered contemporary furniture, designed for urban apartments, hospitality environments, or other areas where space is at a premium, and the showroom in Poznań, Poland, reflects its unique offerings. Showcased are products from the various collections, including curved and straight-line sofas and sofa beds, armchairs, and poufs.
The furniture is sold throughout Europe, including Poland, Germany, France, and the United Kingdom, and Miuform is now exploring expansion into the United States. The company recently exhibited a small sample of its residential products at High Point Market to very positive feedback, said Dawid Kalemba, CEO of Miuform.
Created by Kalemba and Agnieszka Możdżer, the Miuform brand is focused on sustainable furniture design and production. “The core of our brand was to offer a nice, cozy design for a relatively good price,” added Kalemba.
What separates Miuform’s furniture from other brands is its emphasis on multifunction and adaptability. For example, many of the seating products feature hidden storage and adjustable backrests or offer a sleeping function – including the availability of a topper mattress for everyday sleeping on some of the collections. “We are focusing on small compact spaces [with our] compact modular sofas, sleeping functions, bed cases and so on,” Kalemba said.
Average turnaround time on customized products (fabric, etc.) is four to six weeks; items in stock are available for immediate delivery. Popular styles include the three-seat corner sofas, such as the Classy Sophie with its “reversible” chaise options, wide armrests and crafted wooden legs, the Charming Charlie corner sofa bed with its sleek and slanted backrest cushions and convenient side storage pocket, and the Shell Modular Collection with its slanted armrests and deep tufting, while many of the poufs open for additional storage.
New products are also launched during the year. “[We] try to connect good quality, a nice design to the [right] price.” More on Muiform at Miuform.com/pl or watch a video of its products below.
