Bassett expects an operating and net loss for the quarter

Bassett Furniture Industries preliminary results for the quarter ended August 26, 2023, showed that consolidated net sales were approximately $87 million or 26% lower than the corresponding period in 2022. The furniture maker expects to report an operating and net loss for the quarter.

Update: Mitchell Gold Co. files for bankruptcy

Furniture maker Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams has filed for bankruptcy. The bankruptcy petition, filed in federal court in Delaware on Sept. 6, said the company ceased operations after it failed to secure promised funding from PNC Bank. "...the Company continued to operate its business, including the retail locations, distribution center and outlets through at least August 25, 2023, and the factory through the morning of August 25, 2023, so that local management could secure the assets of the Company, which directly benefited creditors," the petition read.
