“The conference, including free keynote sessions, is designed to present experienced experts discussing how professional woodworkers can expand and run their businesses more profitably,” said Lewis Goldman, managing partner of WPE Lancaster.

MANHEIM, Pa. -- Cabinet shops, like many small businesses, do not understand their profitability.  Knowing the keys to profitability is a recurring theme of the Wood Pro Expo Lancaster educational program. The event, scheduled for October 13-14, will also address other topics important to woodworking professionals. "We have a robust and informative conference program offered in conjunction with the WPE expo floor,” said Lewis Goldman, managing partner of WPE Lancaster. “The conference, including free keynote sessions, is designed  to present experienced experts discussing how professional woodworkers can expand and run their businesses more profitably,” said Goldman.

Keynotes focused on business
Business-oriented keynote presentations by FDMC’s veteran editor, Will Sampson, will open each morning of the show at 8 a.m.  Sampson, the popular woodworking journalist and entrepreneur has been an advocate for small-scale entrepreneurs and lean manufacturing since the 1980s. Sampson will kick off Day 1 of Wood Pro Expo Lancaster on October 13 with a presentation titled, Path to Professionalism in Woodworking. Sampson will share seven important tips to propel shops to success.  “Don't make the same mistakes so many small shops do," said Sampson. “You don't have to reinvent the wheel.”
Sampson will return to launch Day 2 of Wood Pro Expo Lancaster with his keynote titled, What's Wrong with Pricing in Woodworking? After more than two decades of studying pricing in woodworking, Sampson has learned a thing or two about why pricing is so crazy and variable in this industry. Learn what to do and what not to do in pricing your work to guarantee profitability and marketability.
Guarantee Profit from your Cabinet Shop
Once again, Wood Pro Expo Lancaster is teaming up with the Cabinet Makers Association to present Wood Pro Expo Lancaster 2022 educational programming. CMA member, Greg Paolini, Director of Operations for Gregory Paolini Design, will deliver a presentation titled, Profit First for Cabinetmakers: Guarantee Profit from your Cabinet Shop on Friday, October 14 at 11 a.m. “Profit First” is a cash management system designed for small businesses. “The system is so simple, even I can follow it – and I have,” said Paolini. “Three years ago I began ‘Profit First’, and it has changed my life, and my business.  My only regret is not starting sooner,” he said. “Many businesses, especially cabinet shops, struggle with delivering consistent and predictable profit. Occasionally we have a really good year, with great profitable news from our CPA.  Of course, we don't really see that money, but our CPA assures us we were profitable. And then, our CPA tells us how much we need to pay the government in taxes, on that profit (which we didn't actually see), and we're scrambling to find money to satisfy Uncle Sam.” According to Paolini, the “Profit First” system guarantees that you will be profitable every quarter beginning today, through perpetuity.
