Wine storage, lighting, palatial closets dominate Design & Construction Week
LAS VEGAS - The 2019 Design & Construction week featuring the co-located shows NAHB International Builders Show (IBS) and the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS) was bustling with crowds spread out across the entire Las Vegas Convention Center and lots from February 19-21. 
Not even the temperature drop and rare snow in Las Vegas daunted the 100,000 attendees on hand to see the latest design, building and storage and organization products from the more than 2,000 exhibitors occupying more than one million square feet of indoor and outdoor space.
Following are a few of the new trends and products seen on the show floor:
In a new booth for the 2019 show, ClosetMaid introduced full backers for its MasterSuite line. The backers are available in all MasterSuite finishes. ClosetMaid also debuted new premium fabric pull-outs and oil rubbed bronze hardware. Additional features include scribe and base moulding and diagonal corner shelves.
Organized Living showcased five new products including a Century Gray finish and new accessories for freedomRail and Classica: corner rod solution kit, redesigned metal shoe fence and soft-close hinges and glides.
Rubbermaid’s Pro division, which designs and markets a full range of organization and storage products to keep the home – including closets, garages, pantries and laundry rooms, introduced a new color.
Wellborn Cabinets showcased a variety of new products and vignettes from a palatial and ‘Old Hollywood’ style walk-in closet and master bath; a transitional foyer featuring hidden under stair storage and storage for all the shoes, jackets and outdoor accessories; and a doggy spa and laundry room with recessed panels, simple tiling, and sleek hardware.
Belwith-Keeler debuted several new collections and the addition of appliance pulls to many of its popular hardware lines. Another brand of Belwith Products, Hickory Hardware, introduced a Pro Program for builders featuring thee display boards of the company’s bestselling styles, sizes and finishes are available at three easy price points.
Häfele America highlighted its recently added three, all-new, easy-to-install wine storage options. The Wine Post stores and displays wine bottles so the label can be prominently displayed from the front. With the Wine Peg the user can view wine bottles with a compact, neck out design that fits more bottles in a small space and the Parallel Rods store and display wine bottles so the label can be viewed from the front while the rods span between two vertical substrates.
Hardware Resources displayed its Angled Power Strips and Lighted Power Strips from Task Lighting, as well as LED lighting that illuminates upper cabinets (above, beneath, and/or inside), sinks, drawers, and the area beneath island countertops.
Northern Contours featured soft and bold colors with its matte finishes and offered up vignettes of design inspiration. Also shown were its 3D laminated doors and floating shelves.
Brown Wood displayed its turned and carved decorative components for the kitchen, bath and furniture and showed how those items can repurposed for other uses. 
Rev-A-Shelf showcased its new 449 Base Organizers, Tresco Lighting Snap and Etch LED panel systems in an interactive countertop display and additions to their vanity line that feature built in electrical outlets.
In addition to meeting suppliers and seeing product demos throughout the three-day show, attendees networked with peers and attended any of more than 130 education sessions led by experts on a wide range of industry topics.
One of those 130 education include a panel on “50 Storage & Home Organization Trends Buyers Want & Will Pay For” with Closet & Organized Storage Editor Michaelle Bradford; Lita Dirks, MIRM, Lita Dirks & Co., Greenwood Village, Colorado; and Theresa Finnigin, MBA, Organized Living, Cincinnati, Ohio. The panel, which also had an encore session, discussed smart storage solutions throughout the home.
