MONTREAL  – Contur Cabinet launched a garage cabinetry collection with Fiat Chrysler that matches its vehicles, from RAM trucks, to Viper sports cars. A Plymouth line cabinet even features a hood scoop on the cabinet door.

Contur Cabinet, based in Montreal, makes metal garage cabinets. The new cabinet collection is being produced in partnership with automotive manufacturer FCA US, a member of the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles N.V., parent of Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Ram and FIAT brands as well as the SRT performance vehicle designation.

Contur's new line will consist of customizable Chrysler, Dodge, SRT, Viper and Ram garage cabinets, as well as cabinets celebrating the Plymouth street machine heritage. The branded lines can be used in a home garage, with appeal to automotive enthusiasts, but also offering a fit for a dealership showroom.Contur says its designers researched each brand to find specific design cues and features that could be implemented into the overall design of the cabinets.

“Our design team consists of car buffs and racing fanatics. When approached with the challenge of building themed cabinets for the FCA US brands, design ideas were rampant,” says Andy Evangelidis, President of Contur Cabinet. One such design idea was to incorporate the iconic “Shaker” hood scoop from the new Dodge Challenger R/T Shaker. “Our goal was to provide the Chrysler, Dodge, SRT, Viper, Ram and Plymouth owner with not only an efficient and stylish storage solution, but an experience related to each respective brand.”

Cabinet sets are available in any color and in any given configuration. Each cabinet set receives a metal VIN number plate with a factory production number riveted to the cabinet chassis. A personalized VIN number plate to match a vehicle’s own VIN numberis also available.

To demonstrate how far Contur’s designers delved into replicating this component in a consistent and precise method, an actual “Shaker” hood scoop from a production Dodge Challenger was 3D-stereoscopically scanned into the company’s engineering software. From there, several 1⁄2-scale prototypes were 3D-printed and test- fitted to an overhead cabinet door for proper fitment and accuracy. The production cabinets will be equipped with the “Shaker” scoop, designed and manufactured using vacuum-formed molding technology; accurate right down to the “392 Hemi” insignia.

Founded in 2010, Contur introduced the first curved all-metal doors, using a patented foam sandwich door design. This technology allowed the company to further innovate its line by developing an all-metal cabinet set using automotive styling cues as design inspiration, coupled together with advanced engineering & manufacturing principles.
