While some design experts claim that the cloffice (home office space in a closet) design style is on its way out, the Brownstone Boys (Barry Bordelon and Jordan Slocum) revisited the concept and turned a spare closet into an office.

In the DIY Diary series for Architectural Digest, the two New Yorkers shared a step-by-step process for their DIY home office project, renovating their 1890s brownstone in Brooklyn.

“Barry and I have an unconventional way of working, and we like inspiring spaces that are comfortable and cozy,” Slocum says. “So, we said, ‘What if we turn our closet that was really abandoned into a cloffice?’” the couple said in the article.

The small home office space will also be used for storage. Key features include shelving, wall sconces, fabric-lined interior walls, and custom French-inspired doors with stenciling and textured glass.
