RESTON, Va. – Cabinet manufacturers reported overall sales of were down 9.4% for December 2024 compared to the same month in 2023, with all three segments reporting losses, according to the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association's December Trend of Business report.
Survey respondents reported overall sales of $183.5 million for December 2024. In the year-over-year comparison, custom sales were down 15.6% to $47.5 million, semi-custom dropped 5.4% to $103.6 million and stock sales fell 12.1%, to $32.3 million. Respondents reported a cabinet quantity for the month of 475,696, down 15.0% compared to December 2023 figures.
For the month-over-month sales comparison, survey respondents again reported decreases in all three segments. Custom sales were down 15.4%, semi-custom fell 13.8%, and stock sales dropped 10.5% in December compared to November figures. Cabinet quantity decreased 11.3%.
For the year-to-date, year-over-year comparison both quantity and sales were down. Participants' sales through December 2024 were $2.7 billion, down 3.4% from 2023 figures. Custom sales dropped 5.7%, semi-custom dipped 1.9% and stock declined 4.4%. Cabinet quantity for the year also decreased, down 7.1% to 7.3 million, according to survey participants.
For the overall cabinet market, estimated sales for December were $875.0 million and estimated sales for the entire year were $12.6 billion. Cabinet quantity for the overall market was 2.9 million in December and 43.0 million for the year.
The Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association (KCMA) represents kitchen cabinet and bath vanity manufacturers and key suppliers of goods and services to the industry. KCMA has been compiling and reporting industry sales data for more than 40 years.
