Achieving a cohesive look requires careful consideration of all hardware components, from cabinet handles to decorative pieces. “Finish consistency throughout the industry is paramount,” emphasized Brabant. “Vendors must work together to stay on top of industry trends and help the industry move forward. We make the industry stronger if we speak the same language.”

Texture is a critical element in creating visual interest and depth. Grantham highlighted how texture is being introduced in decorative hardware pieces, noting the influence of “Peach Fuzz,” a 2024 Color of the Year, on color palettes and product development. 

Size and scale matter
In the custom cabinetry industry, the size and scale of hardware are critical. “128mm, 160mm, 192mm, and up — no one is doing small hardware anymore,” said Brabant. Long pulls are gaining popularity, adding a bold and modern touch. It’s essential to guide clients in selecting appropriately sized hardware to avoid design mishaps like tiny handles on large cabinet doors. 

Technology’s impact
Technology plays a vital role in the closet industry. Visual assets, such as 3D renderings and virtual reality experiences, help clients connect with their custom spaces and visualize the final look, including the chosen hardware.

Contemporary, Modern, Traditional, and Transitional design styles dominate the current landscape. Choosing the right hardware piece for each customer depends on their individual style and the overall aesthetic of the space. 

When it comes to finishes, gold, black, and gunmetal are trending. While classic finishes like matte nickel, polished chrome, and matte aluminum remain relevant, these trending shades offer a fresh perspective.
