Wrongful death lawsuit filed against woodwork company

The family of a 23-year-old worker in Joliet who lost his life in 2024 by falling down an elevator shaft inside an older industrial building on the city's east side, has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Lance Surges and First Midwest Bank Land Trust No. 6329, as well as L. Surges Custom Woodwork and Pio's General Construction.

Metrie acquires door assembly assets in Eastern and Western Canada

VANCOUVER, British Columbia — Metrie, North America’s largest manufacturer and distributor of millwork solutions, has acquired door fabrication, hanging, and finishing assets in Eastern Canada from Northstar/TruBilt Doors, a division of Cornerstone Building Brands, and is expanding door manufacturing and service capabilities through the purchase of additional assets in Western Canada.
