Bio-material in the seat-back construction is just one element that sets Gunlocke’s Savor sustainable seating apart. Designed by Alyssa Coletti of Nonfiction Creative LLC, Savor’s tailored styling features a beveled, dually tapering form that melds the wood elements with the upholstered back. The back transitions from a curved surface that cradles the user’s back into a forward-turning curve that sweeps under the seat. Savor is available in ash, maple or walnut.

Best of Show, Haworth’s Openest collection from Studio Urquiola creates a refuge for people to connect comfortably or in individual ‘“nests.” The new ensemble creates inviting spaces with sofas and screens that create boundaries and visual privacy. Included are sofas, pouf seating, tables and space-dividing screens. The next phase of Openest is designed to support technology integration.

Combining public and private spaces for greater collaboration is the idea behind Herman Miller’s Public system. Designed by Yves Behar and fuseproject, Public supports a casual work environment while providing comfort at the desk, in circulation spaces and in group areas. Features include uniform and modular surfaces, storage and seating, which can be configured into a wide range of settings. The Social Chair is the core component of the Public system.

A multi-function collection for a range of workspaces, HON’s Endorse includes task seating, lounge seating and occasional tables. “The design and materials used to create Endorse result in dynamic support that keeps the body in healthy alignment so people can stay oriented at work,” says Wolfgang Deisig of Deisig Design.

The Susan Cain Quiet Spaces by Steelcase collection includes five workspaces to help introverts focus and rejuvenate while in privacy at work. Constructed with Steelcase VIA walls, the spaces eliminate acoustical disruptions. It includes select Coalesse furnishings.

Approximately 50,000 contract furniture professionals were in attendance at the 46th edition of NeoCon, held June 9-11 in Chicago, an increase of 20% over the previous year's event, according to show management. The event featured new and innovative furniture for the office, healthcare and educational furniture markets. A small sampling of the trending furniture styles can be seen in the slide show.
