The Supreme Court of British Columbia gave approval to a planned C$762.6 million ($667 million) merger between Ainsworth Lumber Co. Ltd and Norbord Inc., a wood components manufacturer.
The $1.1 billion deal between Louisiana-Pacific Corp. and Ainsworth Lumber Co. has been called off as the two panel firms determined they could not get federal regulatory approval without significant divestitures.
The Competition Bureau announced that, following a review by the Mergers Branch, Louisiana Pacific Corp. and Ainsworth Lumber Co. Ltd. have terminated their previously announced agreement in which LP would acquire Ainsworth.
