New Zealand MDF Factory Burns

NEW ZEALAND — In late September, Fletcher Building’s Laminex MDF factory in Centennial Dr caught fire, destroying 75 percent of the fiberboard plant, according to an online report published by The New Zealand Herald. It took more than 50 firefighters from surrounding communities to contain the oil-fueled blaze. Fire safety officers believe a broken hydraulic pipe leading to the presses was the likely cause of the fire.

Cabinetmaster Expands Charlottetown Facility

CHARLOTTETOWN, PEI -- Cabinetmaster Architectural Woodwork Ltd., a manufacturer and supplier of commercial casework and millwork to architects, general contractors and clients in financial, hospitality, institutional and commercial applications, opened a 9,000-square-foot expansion to its facility in Charlottetown, PEI, according to The Guardian. The expansion will result in 25 new jobs being created at the facility.

Omnova Solutions Reports 2006 Q3 Earnings

FAIRLAWN, OH — Omnova Solutions Inc. reported a net income of $3.3 million for the third quarter ending Aug. 31, 2006, an increase over the net income of $1.4 million reported for the same period in 2005, according to a PRNewswire-FirstCall report. Net sales increased $1.8 million to $208.8 million during the quarter compared to $207 million during the same period last year.
