Trottas Custom Stairs & Wood Turnings LLC, New Milford, CT — For stair builder Trottas, handcraftsmanship and technology are integral components for producing its custom products. Customer service is another one.

“We build stairs and rail packages of all shapes and sizes, specializing in projects that require hand-tooled millwork made to customers specifications or to match the unique design of older homes and buildings, which may be in need of renovation,” says Owner Kimberly Trotta.

The custom staircases are pre-constructed in the shop before being delivered and installed in order to ensure a quality fit. To manufacture the components, a Hapfo lathe is used to turn the newel posts and balusters while rail systems are curved using a combination of dedicated machinery, steaming and hand work. The company also offers contoured decorative mouldings, raised panels, corbels, brackets and wood turnings.
