HIGH POINT — Casegoods importer A.R.T. Furniture has been acquired by Tianjin, China-based Markor International Furniture. Founded in 2003, A.R.T. Furniture has had an exclusive arrangement with Markor to manufacture A.R.T.’s lines of bedroom, dining room and occasional furniture.
Jeff Cook, who joined A.R.T. as president earlier this year, will be the new CEO, reports Furniture Today. Ed Grund will become chairman emeritus.
A.R.T. is the second U.S. company to be acquired by Markor in as many years. In January 2009 Markor purchased the assets of Schnadig Corp., a maker of upholstered and wood furniture founded in 1952.
