Video: What is possible in a smart factory?
May 13, 2020 | 11:07 am CDT
As a result of digitization, many everyday objects are able to collect data, analyze external information and communicate with each other. But what happens when this type of technology is applied to the factory? What elements will characterize the factory of the future?

Industry 4.0 has a value creation potential for manufacturers and suppliers of $3.7 trillion in 2025, says Italian industrial automation firm Comau, but today only 30 percent of global companies are capturing value from Industry 4.0 solutions on a large scale.

From wearables to exoskeletons, from artificial intelligence and machine learning to collaborative robots, smart factories will use these technologies to generate value. Benefits include increased productivity while reducing time to market, the ability to remotely manage more tasks through IoT and augmented reality.

Both small and large operations can benefit says Comau. The company highlights latest trends in the video-infographic above.
