Titan Wood Ltd. says its new Accoya wood species is made from sustainably sourced wood, is non-toxic, and offers performance properties that match or exceed tropical hardwoods. It is produced by a wood acetylation process that modifies the wood to make it more stable and more impervious to moisture, fungi or insects. This makes Accoya an appropriate choice for exterior applications such as, doors, window frames, garden decking, facades, cladding and sidings, boat decks and garden furniture, the company says. Accoya can be machined in the same way as modified woods, and its gluing parameters are the same as for hardwoods, the company adds.
